FAQ’s
Q: Who can participate?
A: Volunteers Australia offers volunteer opportunities to overseas visitors over the age of 18. Volunteers with completed qualifications such as teachers, nurses or doctors are just as welcome as school leavers or students. The most imporant requirement for our volunteers is that they are enthusiastic and mature individuals with at least an intermediate level of English.
Q: What are the age requirements?
A: Candidates have to be over the age of 18 with no upper age limit.
Q: Which visa is required for international volunteers?
A: The standard Tourist visa is for 3 months (90 days). There is no age limit, but we require candidates to be at least 18 years old to participate in our program. If candidates want to stay in Australia for longer than 3 months they will need to look at longer Tourist visas which are also available. Candidates can find more information on: http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/visa-options.htm
Q: What are the intake dates for 2011?
A: There will be monthly intakes with orientation sessions starting on the first Monday of each month and the volunteers beginning their projects on the Monday after that.
Q: Can Volunteers choose between cities and remote locations?
A: Volunteers can indicate their preferred location (city or remote) and also their preferred volunteering field (education, health, etc…). We then endeavour to find a program which is aligned with the candidate’s request and background. The completed application form and the questionnaire will be very helpful for our placement process.
Q: The brochure mentions an application interview. Who will conduct the interview and how?Q
A: The interview will be arranged and conducted by Volunteers Australia via phone, Skype, or face-to-face.
