Indigenous Community and Culture
Cultural Exchange
Cultural Exchange is the exchange of differing ideas, beliefs, rituals, customs and traditions between people with different backgrounds. Volunteers Australia aims to promote this exchange in order to foster mutual understanding and tolerance of other cultures throughout the volunteer programs.
Within our programs, international visitors can gain a better understanding of Australian culture and way of life. It’s not only the volunteers that learn from this exchange but the surrounding community as well. Working or living alongside volunteers from other countries can provide a better appreciation for other cultures and can also challenge established perceptions.
Community Partners
Volunteers Australia is committed to providing local Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander communities with volunteer support, while providing a unique opportunity for volunteers to experience life in an Indigenous or Torres Strait Islander community.
Volunteers Australia has developed partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities throughout Australia, ensuring that the community needs are met.
